Meet the Team

LaRCThe My NASA Data is found within the Science Directorate at NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC). It is comprised of nearly 200 facilities 764 acres in Hampton, Virginia, and employs about 3,400 civil servants and contractors. Langley works to make revolutionary improvements to aviation, expand understanding of Earth’s atmosphere, and develop technology for space exploration.

Jessica Taylor is a Physical Scientist at NASA Langley Research center and leads the science education team. She serves as Principal Investigator for My NASA Data and GLOBE Clouds and as a Co-Investigator on several NASA Science Activation projects. Jessica has over 20 years of experience engaging students and teachers in authentic science practices. Prior to joining NASA, Jessica worked at the College of William and Mary, Florida State University, and served as Director of School Improvement for the Florida Department of Education.


Angie Rizzi joined the My NASA Data team in 2018. She is a highly qualified teacher with certification in Middle School Math and Science and High School Earth Science. She taught for over 11 years and is a seasoned GLOBE teacher. She also has over 10 years of experience as an IT consultant which she leveraged to effectively utilize technology in her classroom.


Desiray joined the My NASA Data team in 2019 and serves as a Scientific Programmer. She obtained her B.S. in Geology and Geospatial Technology in 2019 from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and her M.S. in Geographic Information Sciences (GIS) in 2023 from University of Arizona. While obtaining her bachelor’s degree, Desiray worked with My NASA Data as an intern through NASA’s Internship Program.

Penny has over 40 years experience in system analysis and integration, database design, database administration and programming. Penny started working with the Earth Observing System Data and Information System (EODIS) Core System (ECS) at the Atmospheric Science Data Center (ASDC), NASA Langley Research Center in November 2000 and My NASA Data in May 2004. 


Ashlee joined the My NASA Data team in 2022, after working with NASA's Atmospheric Science Data Center on the TEMPO mission. She earned her B.S. in Meteorology & Climatology from the University of Delaware in 2019 and her M.S. in Geography with a GIS Certificate from Louisiana State University in 2021.


Maria is a bilingual, dual-certified former educator in science and English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) with over 18 years of teaching experience, as well as a GLOBE-trained teacher. She interned as an educator for My NASA Data in 2021 through NASA's internship program. Maria also has extensive experience in developing educational resources that focus on Universal Design for Learning, Diversity-Equity-Inclusion-Accessibility (DEIA), and 508 compliance. As part of the My NASA Data team, her expertise allows her to support the team by developing resources and offering support to the public across the country on how to implement engaging activities that are accessible to everyone, regardless of learning ability. Noodle is a Certified Hearing dog and part of the My NASA Data team. He supports Maria by being her “ears” and alerting her to certain sounds.
