The Global Precipitation Climatology Project (GPCP) is an international activity of the Global Energy and Water Experiment, part of the World Climate Research Program, to provide long-term global precipitation estimates. The bulk of the data used in the GPCP product are based on data from the international constellation of meteorological satellites. Where possible, mostly in land areas, analyses of rain gauge data are combined with the satellite data Global Precipitation Climatology Project (GPCP)
