The MY NASA DATA Project, works to make NASA Earth Science data accessible to the citizen science community. One of the main goals of the MY NASA DATA project is to remove the barriers (such as file size, format, and complicated computer tools) that prevent the use of authentic NASA Earth Science data by the interested public. The principal activity of the project is to create “microsets” from large scientific data sets wrapping these with tools and supporting documentation so that they can be accessed by the public.
The NASA Langley Atmospheric Science Data Center houses over 700 data sets that pertain to the Earth’s radiation budget, clouds, aerosols and atmospheric chemistry. The Live Access Server found on the MY NASA DATA website contains over four hundred parameters in atmospheric and Earth science from twenty NASA scientific projects.
