Carrie Lin Joyce

Dr. Lin Chambers: Principal Investigator
Lin Chambers received her education in aeronautical/aerospace engineering. After 10 years of work on problems relating to spacecraft reentering Earth's atmosphere after visits to Earth orbit, the Moon, and Mars, she switched over to the related problem of radiative transfer in the atmosphere itself (without man-made objects). She studies the effects of clouds on the movement of solar radiation, while also directing the S'COOL Project. She is also involved in an international intercomparison of climate data. In addition, she is the contrail scientist for the GLOBE program, and directs the MY NASA DATA Project.

Carrie Phelps: Web Developer
Carrie Phelps earned her bachelor's degree from Penn State University in the field of meteorology. She continued to earn her master's degree in meteorology from The University of Maryland. Carrie has previously worked as an engineer at The Boeing Company and as a staff scientist at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center's Data and Information Services Center. Carrie is presently working part time at NASA Langley Research Center's Atmospheric Science Data Center on the MY NASA DATA Project to develop Web site content and capability.

Penny Oots: Database Administrator
Penny Oots has over 30 years experience in system analysis and integration, database design, database administration and programming in both commercial and government contracting environments. Penny started working with the Earth Observing System Data and Information System (EOSDIS) Core System (ECS) at the Atmospheric Sciences Data Center (ASDC), NASA Langley Research Center in November 2000 and MY NASA DATA in May 2004. Penny currently helps develop and maintain the MY NASA DATA web site. Penny has a B.A. with double majors in Mathematics and Psychology from the University of Colorado.

Susan Moore: Education Specialist
Susan Moore received her B.S. in Secondary Math Education with a minor in Physics, from Radford College, now Radford University, in Radford, VA, and her M.S. in Secondary Education with a Math Emphasis from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. She taught math and science for thirty years at the middle- and high-school level in the Newport News, VA school division. For the past six years, she has been an SAIC contractor in educational outreach for Atmospheric Sciences, and is an Education Specialist for the MY NASA DATA team. Read an article about her teaching experiences.

Erica Alston: Curriculum Developer
Erica Alston graduated with a B.S. and M.S. in Mathematical Science from Clark Atlanta University. She enjoys applying those analytical skills to real world problems. She works with the MY NASA DATA team to develop practical applications and lesson plans using MY NASA DATA.

Joyce Fischer: Administrative Assistant
Joyce is the administrative assistant to MY NASA DATA and the S'COOL project. Joyce is also the web curator for the Contrail Education website. She received her Associates degree in Information Systems Technology from Thomas Nelson Community College.

Dennis Diones: Web Developer
Dennis Diones earned his bachelor's degree from Christopher Newport University in the field of Computer Science. He previously worked as a systems administrator on the ODIN team at NASA Langley Research Center. Dennis is currently working on developing the MY NASA DATA project's web site and content. Read an article about his breakdancing skills.
