Greetings MY NASA DATA Alumni and Newslist members! The monthly E-note is sent to anyone who is interested in learning more about or keeping up to date with the MY NASA DATA project. If you know someone who is interested in this information, the sign-up can be found at: http://eosweb.larc.nasa.gov/HPDOCS/email_registration.html Special Note!! Our e-mail address is changing! To contact the MY NASA DATA team, please use *mynasadata@lists.nasa.gov*. *1) The CERES Surface Scene Type data is now available in the LAS 2) More new lessons and computer tools from the 2007 summer workshop 3) NSTA regional conference in Denver 4) Team members in the news! * *1) The CERES Surface Scene Type data is now available in the LAS * In the LAS-Intermediate Edition, under Biosphere, you will find a new parameter, “Surface Scene Type (CERES/SARB)”. This parameter provides the percent coverage of 18 surface types listed in one file. On the LAS-Advanced Edition, under Land Surface—Surface Cover, along with “Surface Scene Type (CERES/SARB)”, you will also find individual files of the 18 surface scene types. A key to the CERES Scene Type numbers may be found on the Science Basics page under Learn more about our data--Earth Surface Types. *2) More new lesson additions from the 2007 summer workshop* To build on the data available from the Live Access Server, look on the Computer Tools page to see two new additions written by Martin Schmidt, Owings, MD. "Using MY NASA DATA with GIS" describes options for using MY NASA DATA (MND) with GIS software; and, "Using ArcExplorer Java Edition for Education (AEJEE) with MY NASA DATA" provides guidance for downloading and a tutorial for using the free ArcExplorer software. Four great new lessons have been added to the Lessons Page: #28: “Solar Cell Energy Availability form Around the Country” by Teri Rowland, Sheridan, WY #29: “Correlation of Variables by Graphing” by Susan Batson, Pittsburgh, PA #30: “The Solstices” by Catherine Hade, Waynesboro, PA #31: “Great Lakes Snow Analysis Collaborative Network” by Kenneth Huff, Williamsville NY and Dwight Sieggreen, Northville, MI Once again, when you try the lessons with your classes, let us know how it goes. Suggestions are always welcome! *3) NSTA regional conference in Denver* MY NASA DATA will be presented at the Denver regional NSTA, November 9-10, 2007. Summer workshop 2007 alumnus and ambassador, Teri Rowland, will present a MY NASA DATA session; and, Dr. Debra Krumm, atmospheric scientist and ambassador, will participate in the NESTA share-a-thon including both MY NASA DATA and S’COOL. November 9, 12:30-1:30 Denver Hyatt, Capitol 4 (Debra) November 10, 11:00-12:00 Colorado Convention Ctr., Room 403 (Teri) *4) Team members in the news! * Did you know that Dennis Diones is a break-dancer?
